FBP Bus Adapter
The FBP bus adapter supports a variety of bus protocols, including Profibus DP, CANopen, Modbus-RTU, and DeviceNet. These bus adapters share the same physical design and connection method, making it convenient for unified use and selection.
The FBP system can be connected to conventional automation systems (PLCs) via any type of bus adapter, seamlessly integrating switching devices and other similar components in a simple yet effective manner. These switching devices operate independently of the bus being used. By simply selecting the appropriate bus cable (FBP cable), connections to various types of bus adapters can be established effortlessly.
A single device works with all bus types.
Within the product line, each device and every functional module features a neutral bus adapter interface. With the selected bus adapter cable connectors and pre-connected cables, establishing reliable and flexible communication and connectivity is remarkably easy. Additionally, components for connection, operation, and diagnostics are all mounted on the front of the device, enabling extremely quick installation.
ABB's bus adapter FBP effectively addresses the communication challenges arising from the wide variety of field devices and their diverse bus protocols. It allows field devices equipped with the FBP interface to seamlessly switch between different bus protocols—without needing to replace the devices themselves—simply by swapping out the FBP bus adapter. Moreover, the adapter is fully adaptive and requires no manual parameter configuration.
